And well.

  1. ok, i’ve seen the video and some of the pics on here, but i still dont see this being a big winner for GM somehow. There will be those who had Camaros and loved them, so they will buy. And some others pulled in by the initial novelty. But beyond that, I suspect it will be another loss unfortunately. Its updated, but not modern. No WOW-factor. And I dont think many will really care. I dont. I hope i’m wrong.

  2. Is it me or does the fit and finish look terrible? GM brings a big heavy car to the market as gas prices are peaking. They never seem to be ahead of the game.

  3. Very nice soft lines…A proper American car. The Camaro SS beat the Porsche Cayman S at nurburgring so I bet the handling is not quite as good but the low-end torque is great.

  4. Use to be that teenage boys would lust for one of these, now with their estrogen shots they receive at publik skewl, they lust for a Chevy Aveo.

  5. I think that both the Camaro and the Challenger will be failures after the “gotta have it” guys overpay for them.

If you MUST have one of these coupe things, wait a few months for huge discounts as they gather dust on dealers’ lots.

The Camaro looks better to me than the Challenger which is a yawner to end all yawners, but the gauge cluster in the Camaro is in a ridiculous place–low in the dash and behind the gear selector.

That’s a terrible design for people accustomed to looking frequently at their gas and temperature gauges.

  6. So many pictures and videos of this car have been released that it’s old before it’s sold.

    Next.

  7. iquack, the gas and temperature gauges are not in front of the shifter, they are behind the steering wheel with the speedo and tach. The gauges in front of the shifter are just one auxiliary gauges for things like torque and other non essential information.

Non essential? Then why is there a gauge for them at all?

  9. OK, makes sense for gas/temp gauges to be in their usual places.

I was reminded of the 1955 Plymouth that had 2 of its essential 4 gauges on the right side of the dashboard to create a balanced look. That utterly stupid design was corrected for 1956 by using idiot lights instead, and locating them in front of the driver.

I thought history was repeating itself;-).

I understand your point. Thanks for clarifying. We’re all car lovers here, and I enjoy the open discussion.

    Thanks, Vince, for the opportunity.

  10. Id like to see this with the turbo 4, it would be nice if you could run it tuned for 200 or 250 hp and then push a button for a sport mode and get 280 or 300 hp. The engine makes 260 normally. My friend had an after market chip on his 2.0t that gave him 40 horses the push of a button but he could then change it back for dealer service.
