Nissan Juke Test Drive coming up

Last Updated:

Just spent a week with a Nissan Juke.
Will report on it soon.

but I’ll answer questions you might have meanwhile.

  1. It's by far the strangest looking vehicle on the road – followed by the Leaf. It's as if Pokemon took over the Nissan design studio. When you press the horn does it say "Squirtle – Squirtle?"

  2. Does it handle like a crossover or like a hatchback? Does the Juke really have a turbocharged feel? Can four 6-footers feel comfortable in there?

  3. I own one Vince. I find it incredible. I wrote my Nissan Dealer a thank you note saying " Thanks for re-igniting my passion for driving"

  4. Hi Vince, I'm currently looking to trade my BMW 535i for something smaller, more fuel efficient but still fun to drive. The Juke is one vehicle I'm relly intrigued about. I would love to know what the real world fuel economy on the vehicle is?

    Thanks.

  5. i have no idea why nissan decided to put such a peppy little turbo engine and advanced awd system in such a niche vehicle. the same set up in a real hatchback or small coupe would garner so much more attention and sales volumes

  6. Here is a question for you :

Can I get my Irish Setter in the back comfortably with the back seats folded down in the Juke?

    Sam

  7. As always, styling is very personal and subjective.

But this car's styling would keep me from considering it… regardless of how great it may be in other areas.

Hat's off to Nissan for trying to be unique and different from all the other vehicles out there.

But I think they may have taken this concept a bit too far with the Juke.

  8. It's just so damn ugly. I can't seem to get past that goofy-dufuss front end. Mabey if I did drugs it wouldn't be so offensively weird to me.

  9. I drove two Jukes on different times.
It is a 1.6 Litter with the turbo.
IMO, not fun to drive at all. The interior is OK but it feels like a 1.6 litter unless you press the pedal and then still is a lag in power. Why not just use a 2.4 or 2.5 litter with the turbo?

The back seat is cramp, very tide.
The trunk space is very small as well.
Kill a Saturday and take one for a spin.
I love the design and couldn't wait to see it in person.
You can get one loaded for around $24K but I would rather get a used Acura RDX for that money, just my two cents here.

  10. ..no offence,Vince….you have a great website and you seem like a good guy with all sorts of things on the go..but why so mysterious and hidden? Even the juke video has no voice over…even a burp or a small burrito fart. I can understand that when a person is on a public website, there is always a chance of some goof trying to verbally and/or physically harass you… and i respect your cautiousness ….but give a little more..anyways..keep up your good work showing us all these new vehicles. Ciao buddy!

  11. One of the ugliest car around. It stays in the same league with those Ssangyongs and the Pontiac Aztek…

    T_a

  12. Will Nissan ever do anything to address the dealer network that has become the joke of the industry? Also – will they ever do anything to address the quality concerns that cause the poor folks who bought a Nissan to going to said dealers?

  13. Vince, I am a huge fan of this car, I had a quick drive in my buddy's Juke, He loves it. I was wondering if I got one , if it would be weird because he has one. I love the car!

  14. The rear seat in the Juke is useless for anyone over the height of 4'10". Its interior packaging is terrible as well.

The Juke has a C-segment price but still has the interior quality and size of a B-segment vehicle.

The Juke is a bit too niche for me.

  15. this is the best looking dune buggy of a car that i have ever seen. great balls Nissan, honda and toyota would never have the guts!

  16. I looked at one at the dealer, one that was sitting right next to a Versa. I was surprised at how much smaller the Juke is inside compared to the Versa. The back seat is really tight and the cargo area is a joke. Would have preferred a little more utility and fewer body steroids.

  17. interior is huge for a small car. hey dummies, it's a small crossover, not a full sized suv. It's not armada huge but it's very very good considering its a small car. lovely job Nissan!

  18. It appears that there are a lot of nissan shills commenting on this post. Some anonymous, some not.

"It is a great drive for when I leave the GT-R in the garage."

You must be joking. That is the silliest thing I've ever heard. The Juke is considerably more ridiculous than the Aztek or Crosstour.

  19. Vince, it sounds like that guy who always says "Nissan is a great piece of kit" has run through your comments about 5 times already….

Isn't there a way from keeping people from posting essentially the same comment 10 times under different names?

    "Chariot awaits said…

    You are kidding, right?

This is a B-segment vehicle and it has less room than nearly ALL of the B-segment vehicles save for the Fiesta.

Its interior packaging is terrible, and that is why there is a TINY amount of legroom in the back seats and the cargo room is severely lacking.

  20. I would take a Pontiac Aztec over this in a heartbeat. I love most of Nissan/Infinitys cars. But their trucks (&cuv's) are a whole nother story. Each new one sets a new low. And the Juke (Joke?) is the lowest of the low.

Are they trying to take the "Ugly Award" away from the CR-V???

The CR-V isn't ugly at ALL, not even a little bit compared to this.

If the CR-V were ugly, it wouldn't be the best selling SUV in America for over 5 years now.

  22. "If the CR-V were ugly, it wouldn't be the best selling SUV in America for over 5 years now."

I disagree completely. Best Seller doesn't mean anything. The Camry is also a best seller. So was the jellybean taurus. So was the Cutlass in the 80s. And those are all hideous vehicles, just like the CRV. The CRV design isn't pretty, but what it is is purposeful. The Juke is just a jacked up economy car that looks like it was raised under power lines.

  23. MPG, Vince…. that is what I need to know.

The Juke takes Premium gasoline, iirc.
That is why I won't consider it…especially driving 700 miles a week, and Regular gas is $3.50 a gallon(or more).

If it got 33-35 MPG… maybe I would consider this, even if it takes premium gasoline.

I do wish they would have just made this into a wild-looking, slightly larger, 3-door hatchback, to compete against the Scion tC(which takes Regular gasoline).

    Iirc… Nissan used to sell a 3-door Sentra, until 1989, or 1990.

PS. Vince… your review of the 2008 Focus was perfect(we have a 2008 Focus. 60,000+ miles. Not 1 problem. Just wish it were a little faster for passing/and from a stop).

As you once said(do you still?)
    "Nothing says quality like Burlapp".
Keep up the great work, Vince.
