2020 Corvette: Coupe Vs.Convertible

Last Updated:

The new Corvette is again braking with the tradition.
Since the convertible version used to offer a true convertible, open air experience.
Now the only difference is the fact that the top is powered on the convertible. Unlike the coupe.
But the top doesn’t actually open more at all.
I wish they had found a way to still make it a “true” convertible…
Is this “convenience” worth the extra $7500?
What do you think?

  1. I think you might be underestimating the effectiveness of the covetable. It doesn't have the entire roof apparatus in the way. It also has a retractable rear window. Probably the best thing about the convertible is the flying buttress rear end. So old school and yet so cool.

  2. Yes it definitely worth the extra $7,500 because:

    1. No long have to store roof in the trunk which make more storage space.

    2. Very cool to have an electric powered folding convertible top.

    3. It is under Corvette’s 3 year warranty if it breaks down.

    4. Do not want to see the rear engine!

  3. Better rear vision with the top up and a lot more air in your hair with the top down. The targa face-blast is closer to an open sunroof than a convertible.

  4. So they are now beyond using the glossy black plastic for fake windows and now use it for "convertible" negative space??? LOLOLOL

  5. Imo, the coupe looks way better with it's more sloped back roofline, an added bonus that it has a targa top, the best of both worlds. The retracting rear window is certainly cool though, and probably adds a certain degree more of open air motoring in comparison.

  6. The fact that the convertible is only $7500 more begs the question of why the coupe even exists at this point. If anything, they should have made the coupe fully enclosed (fixed-head) for more rigidity and ultimate performance if they were going to make the convertible so similar.

  7. “Why the hell not? It's one of the greatest things about a mid-engine car!”

Have to keep clear. Most recent supercars models do not have exposure engines! Owner hated that feature. It was only cool if you go through the trouble of cleaning the engine every year!

Well, you should clean the engine. Don't be a slob.
