Lincoln Continental.
Last Updated:
For many years, the Lincoln Continental was synonymous with American Luxury. The Big Lincoln was quite an event when it came out in the early 1960’s. The illustration above shows what a new modern Continental could look like today.
Of course, it shows a design with many retro touches. Which is probably the best way to go with a Continental. Unlike what Ford did with the last one from a few years ago. Just like the original, it should have a simple and clean design that could last for years. Something not too futuristic that will never really get old.
Lincoln had announced a new large EV SUV for 2022 a few years ago. As we know, it hasn’t happened since Ford keeps delaying their large EV program. But it will. The 2 large EV SUVs planned have just been delayed for a while. Whatever platform they end up using could be used as well for a new large sedan. Just like Cadillac will soon come up with 2 new luxury sedans based on GM’s Ultium platform.
If they don’t, Cadillac will keep beating Lincoln over and over. And Ford might finally claim no one wants a Lincoln anymore and just kill the brand.
And how about a retro interior for that future Lincoln?
No one needs or even asked for a passenger screen. And there’s nothing wrong with wood and chrome in a luxury car. A new Continental should be impressive and something original. But again, not something that will look old in 5 years.
Everything from the modern world is here, surrounded by the smoothest and quietest ride a Lincoln ever had. Something so old-looking it could actually be cool and original.
Let’s hope Lincoln is secretly working on a new big sedan. The Town Car wasn’t that unpopular when it was canceled in 2011. It was actually selling better than the Navigator back then. Sure, SUVs have gotten more and more popular, but the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air have proven there is a market for a super modern luxury sedan.
One that reminds people of Lincoln’s glorious past would surely find an audience…
nobody cares
I’m left confused by a lot of these automakers that seems to be caught at wits end regarding electric platforms, as though they are having to completely redesign their plans. Did none of them think that a platform built for an electric could also be designed with the battery in the floor and capable of using all this technology for a better hybrid, not just BEV? Honda seems to be moving slowly with that. Stellantis, even though they s**k, seems to have done this in Europe. And I think this is why Kia/Hyundai has been rolling out one vehicle after the other. But Ford? GM? Toyota, even to some extent (BZ4X, RZ, etc..). I’m just shaking my head over the complete stupidity of some of their leadership in how to manage their own technology development programs.
I can’t understand why Ford has not brought the Lincoln Town Car, the Continental, and the Mark series back into production. It doesn’t have to be electric.
What sucks is they put a 3G modem in my 2017 Continental
And want me to pay nearly $2000 for parts and labor to upgrade to 4G
Also some of the electrical features are failing
No one cares
Sound good , but Ford need to make the New Lincoln Continental Real wheel Drive Standard & Optional AWD.
I like it! It looks better than a lot of other visual images I’ve seen
Hey, how about as an option add a 4 doo retractable top like the old days
Yass, yass, yassss! Lord, I wish Lincoln would build this car! It’s what we need in an era of look alike CUV and SUVs. Beautiful car!
I have a 95 town car. I like it better
I’d buy one in a heartbeat!! Drove the Town Car from 1998 til it ended the drove a Continental til it ended.
Amen brother, thats what we are talking about. Build this car.
I own an airport shuttle service and nothing has effectively replaced the town car. It runs forever and is truly worthy of being the industries namesake.
I would buy several. I hope Lincoln is listening.
This rendering is absolutely stunning.
Loved my 1965 lincoln continental convertable with suicide doors.
This town car I have is my 3rd. Had her for 21 yrs. But she’s going down. I need the navigator for my wheelchair, and the new ones suck, so going to get a 17., it’s a beauty compared to the 18’s and above! I love my daughters new 24 Nautilus and it’s pretty, esp. the dash, it’s amazing!
I have a 2017 Lincoln Continental. I still love it! All my friends can’t wait to ride in my car because they say it drives smoother than their Cadillacs and other high end cars! It’s got “get up and go” when i need it and it looks sporty, not boxy!
Please bring back the Continental!
All the best,
Colleen Matthews
They sell a Lincoln sedan in China. Not everyone in the states wants a SUV or Crossover. I think they are missing an opportunity
I have a 1997 Lincoln Mark 8 since new and it still runs great. Nothing has been done to the engine just regular maintenance when needed.
All this does is make real Ford fans more upset. Ford left the sedan game and seemingly it was the right choice. They know how to do SUVs/Trucks as their bread and butter. But they have hallowed names and lines that should see the light of day again.
Got a 2019 love it,waiting on the 2025 Lincoln Continental for the auto show
I have a 2018 Lincoln Mercury MKZ hybrid, with 40,654 miles. I love the design of this model with a full sunroof!!
If Lincoln makes this car, it is an instant classic. You have a guaranteed buyer right here. The retro feel and look of the car’s interior sold it for me. Please do it!!
Ford Better get a Lee Iacocca. Someone who knows what the hell there doing.
Ford needs home runs.
I have a 08 Lincoln Town Car. I call it the Landyacht. Everyone just admire it. I’m waiting for the 2025 Landyacht. I will buy it in a heartbeat.
I have a 08 Lincoln Town Car. I call it the Landyacht. Everyone just admire it. I’m waiting for the 2025 Landyacht. I will buy it in a heartbeat. Please Ford bring back the Town Car, AKA Landyacht.
Rear wheel drive, V8 engine with lots of power, spacious interior, real leather, smooth ride! Most buyers can afford them! Get rid of the 6 banger too much noise!
I have a 1978 Lincoln Continental MarkV Diamond Jubilee Edition, with 19,000 original miles. You can’t beat the ride or handling of this beautiful car. One of only 5,151 built they only came in two colors Diamond Blue and Gold.
I have been driving only Lincolns since 1985. Town Cars, Continentals, 2003 LS which still runs like a scalded animal, an MKT which rides like a Limo, so Yes Make the Vehicle Please!
Absolutely need an utterly reliable and comfortable hybrid sedan. The idea of designing it with retro styling so that it intentionally looks “classic” keeps it from looking “old”. The HVAC system has to have real buttons. Lastly, most importantly, give us a docking station for the “info-tainment” system. Nothing makes a car look older than an infotainment system that is over 5 years old. Let us pull the old one and dock a new one like I change my phone periodically.
