Morgan SuperSport.

The new Morgan SuperSport is a tough car to describe. It is one of the most charming things I’ve seen in years, but also probably one of the ugliest.
The general shape is of course typical Morgan. With classic design cues we’ve seen for decades, and that’s all great and refreshing. Especially in our sad world of look-alike SUVs. But some of these design elements are just too awkward to be ignored.
That lower front end is just ghastly and almost ruins the whole thing. A rectangular plastic strip along the whole front end of the car just doesn’t belong on an otherwise curvy design. It just looks terrible.
The trim at the rear end looks a bit better. But that whole droopy rear-end design is just pretty bad as well. Especially when combined with the hard top, like in that photo right above. Again, this just looks bad. Cartoony bad.

However, the interior seems to be exactly what a Morgan interior should be with a wonderful-looking dashboard. And really wood trim here and there. The only “mistake” I can see is the obvious BMW shifter. It just sticks out like a sore thumb and does not belong there at all.
The SuperSport is the new top-of-the-line for Morgan, above the Super 3 and Plus 4. It replaces the old Plus six. And still uses BMW’s great inline 6-cylinder with 335HP.
As the most expensive Morgan, the new SuperPort isn’t cheap, with a base price of around $110,000 in England.
Despite its odd shape and some strange design decisions, the Morgan SuperSport is a wonderful new model with such personality. Something sorely missed in most new cars these days…
