Next-generation Audi TT.

While the Audi TT stopped being produced in 2023, there are already new rumors about a new one coming out in a few years.
Audi CEO, Gernot Dolner, even said, “For sure. That’s part of the brand’s DNA, and we have to find the right way, timing-wise, to integrate it into our portfolio”, when asked about it.
That is code word for “let’s make more SUVs first”. They need to make money with their current end future EV SUVs, and if there’s any money left, they might consider a revival of one of their coolest cars ever.
I think it is a mistake. These EV platforms are extremely scalable and versatile. The platform used for the following small EV due out next year could probably easily be used for a super cool-looking 2-door sports car as well. And you know, power is no problem with a 2 motor EV platform.
The previous TT was never meant to be a super popular car anyway. In its best year in the US, which was 2007, it still sold only 4355 units. All the way down to just 503 in 2023.
It might have been a higher-priced and fancy car, but it was still based on the FWD Group A4 platform used by the VW Golf, New Beetle, and Jetta. Using an updated VW EV platform also used for the new small 2026 Audi EV would follow the step and be in line with what the original TT always was.
