Cadillac Eldorado.

The picture above is just an illustration of what a possible large future Cadillac Coupe could look like.

This would be an almost ridiculous and overboard display of chrome. And yet, still not as tasteless as Cadillac‘s current best seller, the Escalade truck.

In my unprofessional and borderline morning opinion, a Cadillac should be extravagant. But also, looks like something you want. Something that doesn’t really make any sense, but you just want it. A massive car with just 2 doors could be the ultimate way to display such excess. However, it should be a $340,000 car either. Like the “is it out already?” Celestiq.

We already know 2 new Cadillac EV sedans are coming, probably sometime next year. Although we could see something later this year. But how about a coupe? A large one. Something that could only be called a Cadillac Eldorado.

Of course, we all know the 2 door coupe market is almost down to nothing these days. Mercedes replaced 2 older coupes and convertibles with just one, the new CLE. BMW is rumored to do the same soon by replacing both the 4 series coupe and the 8 series with one model. And Audi won’t be replacing the A5 coupe and convertible at all.

But using the upcoming Sedan EV platform to create a new large-door coupe doesn’t seem like it would be the most expensive thing in the world. I mean something that stands out and isn’t afraid to shout “Cadillac” for a price above the Mercedes CLE, which starts at $ 57,000. Something truly luxurious for under $ 100,000.

I’m afraid the super-expensive and rather weird-looking Celestiq will not do much for Cadillac‘s image and bring Cadillac buyers to the showrooms. A limited appeal, large 2-door coupe might not either.

I say, why not!
