2026 Hyundai Ioniq 4.

Hyundai just released photos of an EV prototype driving around in the snow. It is rumored to be their new upcoming Ioniq 4.
From what we can see under the camouflage, the new Hyundai EV will not look like a smaller Ioniq 5 but more like a smaller Ioniq 9. That could mean the Ioniq 9 design could inspire future Hyundai Ioniq models, which makes sense. Since the Ioniq 5 design is so original compared to anything else on the road, it seems a more mainstream design like the Ioniq 9 might be more appropriate.
On another note, it will be interesting to see what Hyundai decides when its time to redesign its super cool Ioniq 5 in a couple of years. Let’s hope they don’t dilute its personality with an Ioniq 9 type redesign…
So far, the new Ioniq 4 is targeted mainly for the Chinese market, where it will be introduced first. The new Hyundai EV is also rumored to use the same E-GMP platform used in other Ioniq models.
From what we can see, this seems to be Hyundai’s equivalent to the KiaEV5. The EV5 is a few inches shorter than a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and a lot cheaper. It was introduced in China in 2023, and again, it does look a lot like a smaller EV9. It started as a Chinese market only model but later went on sale in other countries like New Zealand, Australia, and South America. And even in Canada, starting in 2026. However, Kia has not announced any plans to sell the EV5 in the US so far.
Maybe we’ll be getting the Hyundai version instead…
