Genesis G80.

This new spy shot shows an upcoming mid-cycle facelift for the Genesis G80 luxury sedan.
This will technically be the 2nd one for the current generation Genesis G80 we first saw in 2020. In 2023, for the 2024 model year, the luxurious G80 already received a few changes. Mainly inside, with the addition of that super generic wide screen and a redesigned console. Which, in my opinion, is a step backward from the really nice interior introduced in 2020.
We can’t see much from the upcoming 2026 facelift except for a bit more chrome trim on the rear bumper. I guess the tail lights look a little bit different, and the wheels might be new to the G80. Or not. It seems I’ve seen that design before.
The main event for the 2026 Genesis G80 will be the addition of a new Hybrid powertrain. While there is no info on the powertrain itself, it could very well be the same one currently used in the new Hyundai Palisade in Korea. In the new Palisade, the powertrain uses a 2.5 2.5-liter turbo engine for a total of 334 HP. While the standard “non-hybrid” 2.5-liter engine version produces 281 HP. In the Palisade, the previous Vy model produced 291 HP.
In the recurrent G80, the 3.5 Turbo V6 produces 375 HP. The new Hybrid would be no match for the V6, but could easily replace the current 2.5-liter turbo and its 300HP.
I say make the new Hybrid standard!. Stand out a little bit…
Further down the line, the G80 sedan will be all new for 2028. It is rumored to be based on a new platform called “eM”. The platform will feature a larger 100kWh battery, and that means the next-generation G80 could be electric only. It would then be competing directly against the upcoming new Cadillac EV sedan.
The G80’s styling is handsome. But unoriginal.
A dream to drive…the features are amazing.
The Bang and Ohlson sound system puts it ahead of competition.
