Lexus LS Concept.

Lexus will very soon unveil a brand-new LS concept at the Japan Mobility show on October 29th.
As you can see from the preview image above, the LS Concept will not be a luxury sedan. But what we know as a minivan. An ultra-luxurious van-shaped vehicle with 6 wheels.
This would mean the Lexus brand is ready to give up on the traditional idea of a luxury car. And go even beyond the ghetto luxury SUV and betting more and more people in various markets are ready to accept the minivan shape as luxury transportation. Something that has been happening in the Chinese market for a while now. Where Lexus is already offering the LM minivan.
Lexus refers to the new concept as a Luxury Space instead of a traditional Luxury Sedan. Which is obvious from the images above. Something like this would also mean there will not be a new LS in the US anytime soon, since the North American market is really not ready to accept a super-luxurious and expensive minivan any time soon.

I know the Lexus design is quite different, but for some reason, the new concept reminds me of a luxury van the great Syd Mead had designed decades ago for Playboy magazine. At the time, it also was showing what a luxury vehicle using a van shape could look like.
However, I really doubt the Lexus concept will be that stylish….
