These Classic Cars Deserve a Modern Comeback

This is a short video showing what could happen if some old cars returned as brand-new models. Like a new Chrysler Imperial or even a modern AMC Gremlin.

These are cars many people have probably never even heard of anymore. A short trip back in time and a quick visit to a future that will probably never happen, since most people have now decided to buy look-alike SUVs instead.

Some still predict a return of the classic sedan. I think sedans will never really disappear. Their popularity will vary over the years, depending on gas prices and how tired people get of driving the exact same thing as everyone else. They’ll always be around somehow.

It might be much harder for 2-door coupes to survive. People have now gotten used to driving 4-door vehicles for far too long.

And I still don’t really understand why wagons aren’t more popular. At least in the US. They offer almost everything people say they want from SUVs, with better handling, lower weight, and usually much better fuel economy. Yet somehow, Americans still prefer taller vehicles that all seem to look alike.

Cars also used to have much more personality. Automakers were willing to experiment with strange designs, unusual proportions, and bold ideas that would probably never survive today’s market research meetings. Some models were beautiful, others were weird, but at least they were memorable.

Please join me for a few minutes and just imagine what could happen. Maybe someday… maybe not.

  1. I would love modern comeback of old car models. I’m tired of boring cars. That’s why I own a 2001 Plymouth Prowler, 2006 SSR and had a Dodge Challenger as a daily driver for a few years that I got a lot of enjoyment out of.
