2028 new Ford/Lincoln SUVs.

It seems Ford is hard at work on a couple of all-new SUV models. One for Ford and one for Lincoln. However, these are, so far, for the Chinese market.

Logically, these 2 would be the new EV SUVs we keep hearing about. Based on Ford’s new Universal EV Platform. The first model based on that platform will be the new Ford Fathom compact pickup. But there is a rumor about these 2 new SUVs using an EREV powertrain.

The 2 vehicles pictured above are developped with Ford’s Chinese partner, and they might actually not be based on thenew EV platform. Even if Ford is still planning at least 8 new EV models based on the Universal EV Platform. With 2 of them rumored to be new SUVs for both Ford and Lincoln. Or maybe that same platform can also be used for a few EREV models. Who knows. We haven’t even seen the Fathom yet.

While the Lincoln Nautilus is pretty new, the Corsair and Aviator are getting old. It’s hard to tell how large these new models are from the camouflaged prototypes. But a new Corsair is due in a year or two. And a new Aviator would also mean a new Explorer in the US. Both of these are overdue. Making the new Explorer an EV might be a bit much to swallow for many US buyers, but an EREV (with an EV option) could stand a better chance.

The Lincoln in these images looks like it’s almost ready to go. I guess we’ll see something pretty soon.
