Cadillac Lyriq 2.

Last Updated:

With the release of the new Vistiq, the new Cadillac line-up is almost complete.

Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade IQ and Celestiq cover a vast range. If you discount the insanely expensive Celestiq, that range is now only SUVs. Which is a bit sad but that’s how it is, at least for now.

The Lyriq was the first model of the Cadillac rebirth into the new EV world. The Lyriq started production in 2022 but was planned for 2021, after introducing a concept in 2020. That concept was basically the exact same car. We even saw a bit of the Lyriq in 2019, in the form of 2 illustrations previewing Cadillac’s then-future EV.

Which means we’ve basically seen the Lyriq design for about 5 years already. With production originally planned in 2021, it would seem a 2nd generation could have been planned for around 2026 or 2027. That would mean a new Lyriq might not be that far off.

The illustration above shows what a new Lyriq with a slightly updated design language could look like. Something looking a bit cleaner and more upscale and maybe even a bit sportier. The new Vistiq seems like a missed opportunity if you ask me, and ended up looking very generic.

However, Cadillac is probably not in a hurry to replace the current generation. Since it is currently their most popular model after the Escalade. And could very well become their best seller next year.

Still, Why not dream a little…
