Lincoln Town Car EV.
Last Updated:
That’s quite a long shot. For now… Lincoln doesn’t seem to have any plans to revive the Town Car any time soon. And their upcoming EV SUV keeps being delayed.
Unlike Cadillac which will be offering 5 EVs by next year, Lincoln has nothing. Ford’s EV plans are constantly in flux. Something that will probably cost them dearly in a few years.
As we mentioned earlier, Lincoln does currently sell a sedan in China, the Zephyr. The EV market is developing very fast in China which has also become the largest market in the world for most manufacturers. If Lincoln wants to survive over there, they will need EVs soon. It is also a market where sedans are still popular. That means a Town Car EV would be a no-brainer and should be a priority, at least for that giant market.
Cadillac is hard at work on 2 new EV sedans based on GM’s Ultium platform. Both with a fastback body style. And that’s pretty much all we know so far. Lincoln will again be far behind its GM competition.
The Town Car was quite popular a few years ago. And it is still fondly remembered by many. However, that doesn’t mean all these “Town Car fans” would actually buy a new one if it came out. The illustration above shows a pretty radical departure from the Town Car we know. Such a design might be pushing the envelope a bit too far. For now. But the competition is moving forward and a few years from now this wouldn’t be that crazy.
Something large, impressive, smooth, quiet, and supremely comfortable at a price lower than its competition could find an audience. That was the Town Car recipe for decades.
A new EV platform would give the Town Car more power while being quieter than ever. And finally, a very modern suspension system.
Really they should just make a sedan out of the F150 Lightning and have a lot of commonalities between the two. After all, the original Panther cars were basically on truck platforms. It would go over well with taxi and fleet companies, and would be over a 6000 lb GVWR for tax write-offs for business.
Absolutely stupid looking. WHERE IS THE HEAD ROOM. Totally unrealistic and ugly.
I own 2006 lin town car and I love it.
I can barely tolerate my MKZ 3.0 Black label.
Seats too small hate the lumbar support and I have like not even 2 inches head room and I’m 5’7″ and the seat is all the way down. I Absolutely hated the new Continental seats are awful and I feel like I’m seating on the ground car is too low.
