Nissan EV Sedan.
Last Updated:
A few months ago, Nissan introduced the Epoch EV sedan concept in China. We can not almost see how close the production model will be to the concept.
It seems the new sedan will end up looking almost exactly the same as the concept. Nissan‘s EV plans seem to change quite often, and there was a time when the Maxima was supposed to be replaced by a new EV sedan. An Infiniti version of that car was supposed to finally replace the Infiniti Q50. More recently, Nissan introduced what they call “The Arc”, which previews their future EV plans. And that new plan doesn’t seem to include an EV sedan for the US market.
Nissan’s current plan is to introduce 7 new models in North America by 2026. Not mentioning how many will be EVs.
Everyone seems to be afraid to introduce EV sedans over here. Except I guess Hyundai with its Ioniq 6. While it has sold pretty well so far, it is far behind the much more popular Ioniq 5. VW has been delaying the ID.7 sedan. ( I personally think they will actually cancel it for the US market.)
Another point is how boring this new Nissan sedan seems to be. It reminds me of a modern version of these super boring Nissan sedans from the 1990s. A very generic design with no personality. Something like this would probably not have any chance over here unless it ends up being very cheap.
I still suspect we’ll get the Leaf here, but that might be about it now. Overall, I’m expecting a lot less investment in the US and US market from car companies. They know its going to be chaos again. And from a business perspective, any business, instability is bad for business.
