Acura ADX alternative.

Last Updated:

I think the new 2025 Acura ADX has the potential to be the brand’s seller when it goes on sale soon. But could it have been better? Yes.

The illustration above shows an alternative design. One that is a bit more dynamic, even if it looks more like a Nissan than an Acura. Still, when I saw the ADX in person a few weeks ago, I was not impressed, And quite disappointed.

While it doesn’t look at all like the Honda HR-V it is based on, it shares its award proportions. Especially in the rear part of the car where it just looks heavy and lumpy. Which might be barely OK in a $27,000 Honda, but the ADX is rumored to cost up to $40,000 or even more.

The ADX basically uses the exact same recipe as the Acura Integra. Just take a Honda, put in new body panels, and come up with an interior that is “different enough” to seem new.

In the case of the eADX, it also has a new engine at least. Unlike the Integra which uses a powertrain already available in the cheaper Honda Civic. However, that 1.5 Liter turbo/CVT combo in the ADX might not be that much more exciting. I’ve driven it before in the Integra and Civic and as usual, the CVT zaps most of the power and the driving experience isn’t such an upgrade when compared to the base 2.0 Liter. A perfect choice for the ADX would have been Honda’s Hybrid powertrain from the new Civic Hybrid.

It will probably be fine for most people, but for those of us who were expecting something special from Acura, this will be another disappointment. And another design that looks like it came out at least 10 years ago. It seems even the current RDX looks more modern…

  1. I’m so sick of hearing the word CHICANE from Acura. Their designers must be so proud of all their gimmicks. I’m not impressed.

  2. Honda used to be know for innovation. It’s sad to see it is no longer the case these days. The company seems to be in decline.

  3. Honda sadly only sends us one Japanese made car out of their entire line up, the Type R.
