2026 Genesis GV90 sliding doors.

Last Updated:

This new spy shot shows what appears to be rear sliding doors for the upcoming Genesis GV90 luxury EV SUV.

Which would be quite an original solution and completely unique in the segment. The Neolun concept from last year had giant butterfly doors. But this seems to be a much more realistic solution. And far less obnoxious in real life.

Although the sliding door setup isn’t obvious in the bottom image, it is still there. You can see the way it cuts into the roof inle. And a fake rear door handle must be part of the camouflage.

Thi sis a really interesting and original solution. However, it might remind people of a minivan, which isn’t associated with luxury cars in the US. I wonder if Genesis will offer regular doors in our market or not.

The Genesis GV90 seems to be very close to the concept we saw last year. That would be great. Since the concept had a wonderful clean and modern design. Something that would be a huge breath of fresh air in our world populated with vulgar-looking beasts like the Escalade or Navigator.

It also would mean the end of those horrible-looking huge grille genesis plasters on everything. Let’s face it, that Superman shield-looking giant chrome grille looked ridiculous years ago when it came out. And it still does today.

The G90 is expected to be over $100,000 to start. Yes, that’s a huge jump over the Kia and Hyundai cousins. But still far under the new Cadillac Escalade IQ EV which starts at around $128,000.

The current Kia EV9 tops at around $70,000. A $30,000 and more premium over the Kia would give Genesis plenty of room to load it up with luxury features like air suspension and more. And still, be a very high-profit item for the brand.

The Genesis concept is an effort in the right direction. While also looking quite original. it’s good to see that maybe, the production model will stay close to the original design.
