Next generation Honda Accord.

Last Updated:

No, there is no new Honda Accord coming soon. What we will see is probably a very slight refresh for the 2026 model year. Something very minor like the 2025 Civic. And just like the 2025 Civic, maybe even some cost-cutting here and there.

A new Accord isn’t expected before the 2028 model year, in 2027. Which isn’t that far away. And will be about a year after a new generation Honda Civic.

Honda usually moves pretty slowly, and I don’t expect the revised 2026 model to switch to a hybrid-only powertrain. But that could happen with the next generation. When you think of it, it would, by then, still be 3 years behind Toyota. Since the Camry switched to an all-hybrid lineup for the 2025 model year.

We might even see a PHEV Accord for the first time. Most of us probably forgot, but the Honda Accord was available with a PHEV powertrain over 10 years ago! With about 13 miles of EV only rage.

Then the Honda Clarity came out, also with a PHEV powertrain. This time with an amazing 47 miles of EV range. I test drove one years ago and was very, very impressed.

For some reason, that amazing tech was never transfered to anything else, as far as I know. It would have been perfect in the Accord. Just imagine around 50 miles of EV range or even more by now.

By that time, Toyota will probably be close to introduce a truly new Camry and there are rumors it might us some tech from the new 2026 Lexus ES. That could mean a Camry EV.

The current design is fine but really tame and without much personality. The current Civic is really aging pretty poorly. Which was expected with a design that looked much older than the previous generation.

Let’s hope the next generation Hondas get a healthy doze of razmatazz. Maybe infuenced a bit by their upcoming 0 Series sedan and SUVs.

  1. Don’t hold your breathe waiting for a new model, I don’t think Honda even employs auto designers. There as bad as Toyota.

  2. Go back to the body style of the 2022 and put a v6 turbo charged motor in there.

  3. Anybody noticed the wide body in the back….but Accords are Fwd …unless Honda would make and AWD version…sigh!!…we can dream right?…also no Crosstour comments please!

  4. Honda should’ve never killed off the Accord an it’s V6 engine. They offered great performance, reliability, affordability, nice interior, range, handling, and space for passengers/cargo. I still own my Gen 10 EXL-V6 Coupe, and I wouldn’t trade it for a CRV or newer Civic.

  5. Honda should buy Chrysler and Dodge/Ram. Permanent no to Nissan. Retire Acura.

  6. I have the 2021 and 2022 hona accord. Can’t beat the body styles. I have the 2.0T in my 2021 and the 2022 hybrid sport touring 2.0. Both in sonic grey. I enjoy them both and I dont think id be giving them up anytime soon. The new body style I dont like.

  7. There are just so many places that Honda screwed up the current Accord that I doubt they’ll make another in 2028(?). And that’s a shame.

  8. Is the Prelude emerging soon? I have my 2009 white coupe still and wont be giving that up however, I was looking for an add-on….?

  9. I work for Honda in sales, I wish that they would listen to feedback from us to help improve the look of the vehicle or models because we deal directly with the consumers

  10. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the V6. You can’t get a leather interior without being forced to get the Accord Hybrid. Which we don’t like. The interior choices seem to be less and less these days.

  11. Here we go, bring back the V6 from all the people who wouldn’t buy one even if they did. That turbo 4 was really good. It would be great if they brought that back but seeing how they like to keep things streamlined i bet they’ll go full hybrid.

  12. The Accord interiors used to be pretty nice and have some color variation. Not now. Its all black on black on black. Or maybe just a little tan. Doesn’t feel as high quality as it used to. Just black plastic basic.
