Polestar 5.

Polestar is now officially teasing the all-new Polestar 5 sedan. 5 years after we saw the concept. And at least a year after we’ve seen totally uncoverd prototypes driving around Europe.
So far, they are much saying much except for this: “Planned to be released in 2026”. Which is pretty vague, especially after 5 years. “Planned”??? that meands they’re not even sure.
Otherwise, the usuall carfeully scripted PR BS is explainig things to us: “Grand Tourer. Game changer. The power and performance of a supercar in a GT format. The Polestar 5 wraps cutting-edge bonded aluminum technology around four occupants to deliver a rapid, analog drive.”
The Precept Concept, which was a preview of the Polestar 5 was introduced in 2020! With patent images of the production version cisculating around the web in 2022.
5 years is quite some time to turn a concept into a production car. (Unless you are Tesla). And thank God the design was so great, and it still won’t look old at all when it comes out. At least it looks much more modern than the 13-year-old Tesla Model S.
Polestar already showed us a few “official’ spy shots of camouflaged prototypes almost 2 years ago, mentioning the car will have up to 700HP. Which seems to be the new normal these days for high-end electric cars. After all that time, the Polestar 5 is still not really “around the corner” since it has been scheduled for the second half of 2025.
Later will come yet another SUV. A smaller one than the Polestar4 is called Polestar 7.
I actually can’t wait to see the new Polestar 5 sedan in person. A refreshing sight after all these SUVs. And another nail in the Tesla Model S coffin. The Model S is currently priced at $80,000. Let’s hope Polestar can find a way to price their new sedan for a little bit less. Hoever, Tesla just stopped taking order for the Model S and X in Europe.(The US might be next). That means it won’t compete against the new Polestar sedan.
The Lucid Air is also a bit cheaper starting at $70,000. I just drove a Lucid Air last week and all I can tell you is that it is quite amazing. Inside and out. And vastly superior to the old Model S. A refrssh is also coming soon for the 2026 model year. Adding suspenion improvements found in the new Lucid Gravity. And especially, the same updated charing tech that will finally allow the Air to charge and high speed at Tesla Superchargers.
Let’s hope we see the new Polestar 5 soon.
