Next generation Lincoln Corsair.

Both the Lincoln Corsair and the Ford Escape are scheduled to disappear before the end of the year.

The recent announcement of Ford’s all-new “Lowcost” EV platform basically killed these 2 SUVs. The Kentucky plant where the Escape and Lincoln Corsair are being built is currently being retooled for the first all-new models based on the new platform. Which will be a compact pickup and a compact SUV. While the upcoming SUV could end up replacing the Ford Escape, it seems the Lincoln Corsair’s future could be in limbo for a while.

Ford is confident that they will have enough units of the Escape and Corsair produced by the end of the year to meet demand through most of 2026.

This all sounds a lot like a new Lincoln Corsair based on the new EV platform is coming out after that. Ford already mentioned the platform could host as many as 8 new models. You know some of these have to be for Lincoln, unless there is a secret plan to just dump the whole brand.

The Corsair is Lincoln’s best-selling model, with over 27,000 units sold in the US last year. Not that much, but an increase from the previous year. However, sales are taking place in China, where Ford desperately needs something. And that something could very well be a brand new Corsair EV built on a new platform that will allow Ford to make money on it. It is almost certain that a new Lincoln EV is coming to the Chinese market.

The only question is whether Ford will sell it over here to compete against Cadillac or not.
