Toyota Corolla Concept.

An actual next-generation Toyota Corolla looking like this would be a revolution. And would mean goodbye forever to boring Toyota sedans.
I’ve already seen a few YouTubers referring to this as the “2027 Toyota Corolla”. Which is wrong. Sorry to say, but this is not what the next-generation Corolla will look like. No matter how hard we wish.
The Corolla has been one of the best-selling vehicles in history for the past decades, and Toyota isn’t turning it into a super sports car-looking thing like this any time soon. Of course, this gives us an idea of what they are thinking, and we will probably see many designed cues from the concept applied to the production car late next year.
The interior is even crazier than the exterior. And again, a complete show car interior design, and nothing seems to be close to production-ready in there. Unfortunately.
As far as powertrains are concerned, it seems Toyota is actually thinking of offering an EV version of the Corolla for the first time. On top of Hybrid and PHEV models. And maybe even a hydrogen-powered trim in some markets. Here in the US, a new Hybrid powertrain could become standard, just like in the new RAV4 and Camry. That powertrain would include Toyota’s all-new 1.5 Liter Turbo engine.

I knew the Corolla Concept looked a bit familiar. To me, it still looks a lot like the 2023 Toyota FT-3e Concept pictured above. A really cool-looking EV concept with a design language that seems very similar to the new Corolla concept. Which now may turn out to be a preview of the next Corolla Cross? Or the next BZ EV model?
There is no doubt the next-generation Toyota Corolla will look much more modern than it does now, as it should. And the new concept gives us a small glimpse of the future. But it is not the 2027 Corolla…
Just gonna say it – this will never happen
Obviously this will never happen. But it is fun to think about what parts of it might happen. The final design will take bits and pieces from this design, but are they going to dull it down so much that it looks terrible? I don’t know, the new Prius exterior looks great. The new Camry, not so much.
Is that a Flux Capacitor?
If you look at the basic design/shape of the FT-3e concept, and get rid of the over the top stuff, that is basically the new Bz EV. I would imagine that the Corolla will look somewhat like this concept, just toned down a lot. Obviously the interior will not look anything like the concept. And I really wish the trend of adding 20 screens in a vehicle would stop. It’s car, not a media room.
Never say never, they made the Prius and Camry cool. But this is just an absolute mess. A collage of shapes and pieces where nothing flows together. It’s like 50 different designers worked on it and they pieces all their ideas together
For a price target under the current Honda Civic, we already know it will be filled with monotone colored hard plastics, as few joined pieces (ie. not nearly this much detail) as possible, and the current incremental updates for the Toyota hybrid system. If it gets the new Mazda developed 1.5L, that’ll go to GR Sport model for $40+k.
