A new VW sedan we won’t get.

The upcoming VW ID.EVO is yet another VW model specific to the Chinese market. It is part of a series of EVs specifically designed for that local market. And part of VW‘s strategy, “In China For China”. Where the new models are not only built in China, but also designed and engineered locally.
The ID .EVO EV SUV concept was introduced last April. Photos of the production model under camouflage already show how close the real thing will be to that concept. Last April, VW introduced not one but 3 new concepts for the Chinese market. the ID.EVO shown above, but also an ID.AURA sedan and ID.ERA large SUV.
This is what VW is officially saying about the ID. EVO: “The ID. EVO from Volkswagen Anhui is targeted at young, lifestyle-conscious buyers who are keen to set themselves apart from the crowd. Based on an 800-volt platform, the ID. EVO is the first all-electric full-size SUV in Volkswagen’s ID. UNYX family. The concept vehicle is fitted out with a high-performance zonal electronic architecture that not only facilitates a wide range of new digital services but also continuously expands the customer experience with over-the-air updates at short intervals.”
While VW describes it as a full-size vehicle, it seems much smaller than the ID.ERA and about the size of the current ID.4. I know these are specific to the Chinese market, but this new ID-EVO would look pretty good over here as well. I also wonder if that type of design previews what we will be getting over here as the 2027 ID.4.
