2027 Honda Pilot.

These new illustrations are trying hard to guess what the mid-cycle facelift for the Honda Pilot could look like. Which is due next year for the 2027 model year. And they are probably very close to the real thing.

Unfortunately, Honda is known for these useless mid-cycle refreshes. In some cases, like the Honda Civic, they even make things worse. Otherwise, they’re just invisible and often come with some cost-cutting inside the car. Like taking out rear seat vents or USB plugs.

So far, at least on these illustrations, the 2027 Pilot looks almost exactly the same as it does now. And the whole thing would seem useless and a waste of resources from Honda. However, I can understand them not wanting to rock the boat since the current generation Pilot has been a very popular model for them. With over 141,000 of them sold last year. A big increase from the year before, with 110,000.

But really, why even bother at this point? It’s not like they had a brand new, more efficient engine ready to squeeze into the Pilot. The’re really no reason for this mid-cycle refresh except “everyone is doing it and we’ve already done it before”…

  1. There are two things Honda could do to make the front end more modern. First – enough of the Honda “wings” – ie. the chrome or black piece at the top of the grill that spreads to the headlights. It was a bad idea that wont seem to go away. Second – stop adding black or chromed C brackets within the bumper where the air intakes for the front wheels are located. Its a 10 year old idea that’s played out. They should make the fog lights more pronounced and bevel the leading edge of the hood to make it look more recessed. But none of this will have the same impact as getting the V6 hybrid up and available.

…this post is very uninformed. It has been reported and confirmed by Honda that a hybrid powertrain is coming with this refresh. So, yeah, it is getting a new engine.
