Is this the next Honda Fit?

Yes, the Honda Fit is still around. In many countries around the world. And a next generation could be around the corner, since the current one came out in 2019.

The Fit was sold in the US from 2001 to 2022. It had been pretty popular for many years and had accumulated a big following in North America. Unfortunately, Honda decided to put all their effort into the H-RV for the North American market. A more expensive model with a higher profit margin that had the potential to be even more popular.

And they were right. Sales of the Fit in the US had gone down to 32,488 units in 2020, and 8,695 the following year. The H-RV jumped from 84,000 units in 2020 to over 137,000 in 2021. While the larger US version of the H-RV has never replaced the Fit, it has been much more popular.

The illustration above seems like it could be a car from any other manufacturer out there, including many Chinese ones. It has nothing in its design that says “Fit”. Except maybe for that oversized front side window.

I think Honda needs to go a bit retro for the next Fit. They have plenty of cool vintage designs they could use as inspiration.
