Possible 2028 Cadillac Escalade.
Last Updated:

The Cadillac Escalade, and its cousin from GMC and Chevrolet is still related to the big GM pickup trucks. These are scheduled to be redesigned for the 2027 model year. That could mean a new generation for the big SUVs about to year later, including a new Cadillac Escalade.
GM has just announced the Cadillac Escalade IQ EV will be getting a new self-driving technology that will allow for “eye-off driving”. Which could possibly mean you could turn your 2028 Escalade into a sort of Waymo personal vehicle. A technology that will also be available from a number of other manufacturers by that time.
GM isn’t mentioning the regular ICE Escalade yet. But the new generation GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado could be launched as early as late next year, as 2027 models. They will use GM’s next-generation V8 engines, and some sort of PHEV powertrain is expected later.
As usual, they will look different but won’t really feel much different from the current trucks. I’ve been test-driving these for many years now and, at least to me, these big pickups still drive the same as they did 10 or 15 years ago. With really small improvements.
The Cadillac Escalade version will probably be even more high-tech than the current model. And showing that is]t’s not the end of the line yet for the big V8 SUV. MPG will probably be officially slightly better, and basically the same as it is now in real-life driving.
The current Escalade is still surprisingly popular, with over 41,600 sold last year alone. Which was its second-best year ever. (Second by only 18 units from the previous year). Even more have been sold this year, with 41,736 so far. I personally don’t see the attraction of this vehicle, but many do. Year after year. GM doesn’t really need to change much to sell even more, and they know it.
