New 2026 Nissan Teana.
Last Updated:

For many years, the Nissan Teana was mostly a Japanese version of our Nissan Maxima. This started back in 2003 when the Teana replaced the Nissan Bluebird in its home market. It became more closely related to the Nissan Altima starting in 2013.
A brand new generation Nissan Teana was just introduced in China. It is now a Chinese version of our Altima. Since… you know, the Nissan Maxima doesn’t exist anymore. Just like the Altima in the US, the new Teana is a gas sedan, not an EV. Powertrain is very similar to what we have here with a 2.0 Liter Turbo 2.0 Liter engine with 243HP and a CVT. Which is really nothing special.
What is a huge improvement over our North American version is the all-new interior. Although the front and rear ends have also been redesigned.
Our Altima was introduced back in 2018 and got a refresh a couple of years ago. For a while, it was scheduled to retire soon, and no new generation was planned. The revised model for China makes you wonder if the really nice interior will make it over here or not. That would imply Nissan changed its mind about canceling the Altima over here. A refresh like this could easily allow the Nissan sedan to live another 3 years over here. This is the same kind of change Toyota did for the 2025 Camry and passed it for “all-new”. However, Nissan’s interior is much, much cleaner and more modern than the 2025 Camry. I also think the 2028 exterior design has aged much better than the 2017 Camry.
While not on the same league as the Camry or Accord, Nissan still sold over 113,000 units of the Altima last year. Maybe these revisions would help boost sales.
At least, this is a very nice interior. Much better than both the Camry and Accord…
Totally agree. Even if I don’t love the Altima, they would be wise to send this update to the US unless they were losing money on each one they produced. The only thing is whether customers are rejecting Nissans that have the touch capacitive selectors instead of actual HVAC buttons. Seems like VW lost sales on that hill.
Everyone is making all their interiors all look like Teslas. There is no more originality anymore. They all got rid of the clusters for a 2nd screen behind the steering wheel. This aint nothing new. And the greenhouse is outdated this is on the Altima
Very clean interior, if not overly original or exciting. However, I would never buy, or advise anyone to buy, any Nissan with a CVT. Just too risky with their CVT’s history of issues.
