Possible next-generation Cadillac Eldorado.
Last Updated:

Cadillac has been coming up with a series of new EVs for the past few years. All based on GM’s Ultium platform. While all of these new models have so far been SUVs, we heard last year of 2 new sedans coming “soon”. But what about a proper, large 2-door coupe? Something that could be called an Eldorado.
In one form or another, the Cadillac Eldorado was produced from 1952 to 2002. 50 years of dreamy, big American luxury coupes. While the early ones were mostly more luxurious versions of various Cadillac coupes, things got very different starting in 1968, when the Eldorado got its very unique and fantastic design.
By 2002, it had gone through 12 generations. Some nice, some bad. And not all glorious. It basically died with the 2 door coupe luxury car market. An early victim of the drastic market switch to SUVs.
I also personally think Cadillac is pretty much ready for a new design direction. All their current EV SUVS look like a version of the Lyriq. Which was fine when it was introduced in 2022. While it’s only been a bit over 3 years, we first saw early illustrations of the new design back in 2019. Due to COVID, the original concept was delayed until 2021.
Cadillac’s recent concepts have been showing a simpler and cleaner design direction, which I think is more in line with a luxury brand these days. The illustration above shows what a large new Cadillac 2-door coupe could look like. One with a very simple design.
of course, a new Cadillac coupe is pretty unlikely. But who knows…
