2026/27 Hyundai Ioniq 3.
Last Updated:

Right now, the Ioniq 5 is the cheapest EV from the Ioniq family you can buy from Hyundai. At least in North America, where it now starts at $35,000. Prices for the 2026 Ioniq 6 sedans have not been announced yet, but they will also be cheaper than last year. This will change soon with the arrival of the all-new Ioniq 3.
There have, of course, been talks about a smaller and cheaper EV model from Hyundai for years. The brand currently offers the Kona EV and the smaller Inster EV in Europe and other markets. But they aren’t part of the all-EV Ioniq family.
The new Hyundai Ioniq 3 will probably replace the current Kona EV. While the Kia EV3 could replace the current EV version of the Niro. However, these plans might have recently been revised for the US market. Where Hyundai/Kia might just abandon the small EV market for a while, until things settle down with tariffs and incentives.
The illustration above shows a new Ioniq 3 model that is a production version of the concept we just saw a few weeks ago. Which is probably very realistic.
Something modern, attractive, and affordable is the right way to go. If ever sold in the US, something like this would go against the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt and 2026 Nissan Leaf.
Inside, Hyundai’s new “Pleos Connect OS” will show up for the first time. It will include a small, wide, narrow screen right in front of the driver, closer to the windshield. And a larger center screen, like so many other EVS. That large center screen will include a row of physical buttons at the bottom.
