2027 Mercedes GLA.

Last Updated:

I had to admit I had no idea the Mercedes GLA was still on sale in the US. But it is… Starting at $41,500 for the 2026 model.

The current, 2nd generation, came out in 2019, and Mercedes figured the world deserves a new one. The GLA has never been a big seller in the US. That means a 3rd generation might not even make it over here.

There will be no surprises with the design of the next Mercedes GLA, and the illustration above shows a familiar design. One with the new huge grille added to it. Just to make sure people know that no matter how small, this is a real Mercedes after all. The interior will also be very familiar since it should be the same as the new CLA sedan it will be based on. That means screens all over the dashboard, from one door to another.

Just like the CLA, the new GLA is expected to be introduced as a Hybrid, with a Hybrid model following later. That Hybrid will probably use the same new Mercedes-designed 1.5 Liter Turbo built by Geely. The larger GLB is so far scheduled to be introduced before the GLA.

With the Mercedes/Nissan Mexican factory, where the US GLB is built, closing soon, I’m not sure if the next generation will even be sold over here.

  1. I see a ton of AMG GLAs on the road and actually like their look. Barely see any GLBs at all.

  2. A fine example of the Germans refusing to invest in a fresh design for the Americas as they take 2017 styling and slap their new 2027 grille on it.
