2027 Ford EV pickup.

The illustration above shows what Ford‘s all-new compact EV pickup could look like. It will be the brand’s first model based on the new Universal EV Platform.

Ford‘s CEO Jim Farley mentioned: “Our first body style will be a pickup, but it’s really not a pickup. I would say it’s a new silhouette. What I mean by that is that it has more room than a RAV4, the best-selling passenger car in the US. That doesn’t include its frunk and pickup truck bed”.

That’s all pretty vague and could be anything. It coule even be a regular looking pickup like th eillustration above. With a few more modern design elements. But I really don’t think Ford has the guts to deviate far from the classic pickup shape, unlike what Mr Farley is saying.

Comparing a new pickup to the Toyota RAV4 is a bit weird, unless your new vehicle is some kind of crossover between a pickup and an SUV. Something like this would really be unique in the North American market.

The new truck could also be quite an amazing deal since it is still scheduled to start at $30,000. Or at least $3000 under the 2025 RAV4 Hybrid (The redesigned 2026 model will probably cost even more).

If Ford managed to design the new truck to be attractive, they could actually have a big hit on their hands when it comes out. A new more car like pickup could be something interesting.

  1. I’m sorry… didn’t I just see Ford CEO Farley in the WhiteHouse complaining that EVs are killing Ford and its the government’s fault they’re losing money? Suddenly, Ford debuts this…. while GM says EVs are still the end-game move and has already overtaken Tesla in Canadian sales and is climbing in marketshare here in the US. Farley will say anything in the moment that serves him.
