2027 or 2028 BMW 4 series coupe.

These new illustrations show what the next-generation BMW 4 Series could look like. (These are actually based on earlier illustrations of the next 3 series sedan…). The 4 series is just the 2-door version of the 3 series. Except for the price. Renaming the old 3 series coupe the 4 series a few years ago allowed BMW to charge even more for it.

The illustrations show what would be a really boring design, not that much more modern than the current car. The main flaw of current BMWs is the huge, disproportionate grilles. Especially th eone on the poor old 4 series with its giant cartoony Bugs Bunny teeth. I guess the new “Neue Klasse” inspired front end would fix that. However, the rest of the design looks very boring and conservative. Classing with the new front end dsign.

The next BMW 3 series sedan will be a new generation of the gas model. A new i3 EV will be based on the all-new Neue Klasse architecture. It will basically be the sedan version of the new iX3, with a very similar interior and specs. However, EV range will be even better since the sedan design will be more aerodynamic.

While we have seen plenty of i3 and next generation 3 series prototype, there has been nothing about a new coupe version. There was a rumor a couple of years ago about BMW coming up with a new coupe replacing bth the 4 series and the larger 8 series. There were also talks of canceling the 4 series coupe altogether.
