2028 Ford Ranchero. A “Universal EV Platform” surprise?

This illustration shows what a new Ford Ranchero could look like. Not just using the old Ranchero name on a new model, but a real New Ranchero.
The Ford Ranchero was produced over 7 generations from 1957 to 1979. It was based on a 2 door version of the average Ford sedan at the time. Like the Ford Falcon, Fairlane, or the Torino. The whole rear section behind the doors was designed and built as a pickup. A pickup that drove more like a real car and not a truck.
Chevrolet had the super popular El Camino as well. Dodge didn’t have anything similar except for the Rampage. Which was much smaller and based on the FWD Charger from the 80s Which was basically still a K-Car.
Ford recently unviled their all “low cost” EV platform called Universal EV Platform, without actually showing any actual product. The first one is a sub-$30,000 compact EV pickup they’ve been talking about for years. Ford has also mentioned that up to 8 models could be based on that platform. Even including new Lincoln models.
I think a Ranchero rebirth would be great fun. Maybe not popular, but fun. I have seen rumors about the name “Ranchero” being used for the upcoming small pickup. But I think a proper Ranchero should be a modern version of the previous generations. A 2-door car with a pickup bed. Now, based on that new EV platform.
Something fun, affordable, original, and uniquely American…
