Time for a new 2028 Lincoln Town Car. (with cornering lights!)

The Lincoln Town Car disappeared in 2011. Could a new one bring back the classic big American luxury sedan? Probably. Since the few potential buyers are getting old. And Limo companies are getting used to transporting celebrities and wannabes in big SUVs…
What Americans really didn’t want was a Lincoln Continental based on the Ford Mondeo. Something that happened in 2017. Sure, it was longer than a Mondeo, but it never really looked the part of a big Lincoln sedan. And it definitely wasn’t a Town Car replacement. It was also expensive, and the interior was full of cheap-looking plastic chrome trim that didn’t feel very “Lincoln.”
What would work better is a larger RWD sedan, like the last Town Car used to be. Of course, the Panther platform is long gone, and adapting the current Mustang platform would probably be very expensive. And a pretty crazy idea.
This might sound blasphemous to the old guard, but the all-new Universal EV Platform is probably the only realistic way to revive the Town Car. It would instantly be quieter and more powerful than any Town Car ever was, without even trying. And less costly for Ford to build. The illustration above shows what a big new Lincoln sedan could look like. One with plenty of chrome and even cornering lights!
Meanwhile, Cadillac might or might not still be working on two new EV sedans. Hopefully, that could push Ford to compete by adding a sedan back into its now SUV-only Lincoln lineup.
As it turns out, the Town Car still has a lot of fans—of all ages. It was incredibly reliable, and many examples can be found for around $10,000. That makes it a great deal for anyone looking for a big luxury car that isn’t too old. Then you start looking at various generations of the Lexus LS (because why not). Those are also affordable, reliable, and probably more sophisticated than the Town Car.
Eventually, you realize you don’t actually want to spend $10,000 on a car you don’t need at all. And that you’ve spent way too much time watching Lincoln Town Car and Lexus LS videos.
And maybe it’s just time to go to bed…
