2027 BMW i3 official teaser.

A brand new BMW i3 sedan is right around the corner. And we now have a first official teaser, showing the front end of the new EV.

You can tell it has evolved since the 2026 BMW Neue Klasse sedan concept. It now incorporates a more traditional BMW grille design. Even if it might just be LEDs. It does seem more like a proper BMW. And still vastly superior to the ghastly grilles of many of their current designs. It also makes the recently unveiled BMW iX3 SUV grille look ridiculous and overdone. That narrow grille now reminds me of Renee Zellweger eating a lemon.

As we already know, the new i3 sedan will use a platform similar to the new iX3 SUV. However, due to its more aerodynamic shape and more discreet presence on the scale, it is rumored to be capable of at least 500 miles of range. When measured in the European test cycle. Which would still be over 400 miles EPA. And quite an amazing number…

In Europe, the new BMW i3 will be competing directly against the upcoming Mercedes C-Class electric. (previously known as the EQC sedan). However, the BMW will have a much sleeker and tasteful styling. Even if the designers can’t help themselves from using some crappy looking black plastic trim here and there. At least it won’t have that new ghastly huge new Mercedes illuminated grille. Which has to look really, really bad on a small sedan.

It seems BMW will soon be a much classier choice in the German Luxury Car world.

The “regular” BMW 3 series will also see a brand new design. But it will still be based on its current platform. The new design will try very hard to make it look like the new i3.

The new i3 interior should be pretty similar to what we just saw in the new iX3. Which is much nicer than some current BMW interiors.

Next will be a facelift for the 5 Series and i5 sedans. One that will include the new i3 front end. Something that seems a natural fit for the larger sedan, and a big improvement over tthet guretn giant grille.

  1. Nope. Looks like Krappe. Hate this new design philosophy. Looks dated and cheap. The interior looks like an old Prius. Goodbye BMW. I got my 2025 i4 and it looks like that will be the last BMW i ever buy.

  2. Best looking BMW in at least 15 years. Still plenty of room for them to screw it up, especially in the back and inside when the production design finally is shown.

  3. A breath of fresh air and maybe we were trolled and they planned it all along?
