2027 Kia Niro Officially Revealed for the U.S.

While we saw the revised Kia Niro a few months ago, this is the official US version for the 2027 model year. And from what we can see, it is a bit different, but not really improved. At least visually.

I’ve always liked the current Niro and was actually pleasantly surprised after renting one for a few days a while ago. The rental was the EV version and was of course quick and super quiet. For 2027, that EV model is gone from the Niro lineup. Which makes sense since it would be about the same size as the upcoming Kia EV3 EV.

Now the Biro is only available as a Hybrid with a 1.6 Liter engine and a 6-speed auto. The obvious visual changes are Kia’s effort to make sure the Niro looks like all other Kias. With a redesigned front end that is really not an improvement over the previous one. The redesigned rear hatch allowed for thicker real lights as well. All of this is a bit direct, if not better.

“For the new model year, we’ve made meaningful investments across several areas of the vehicle to further enhance the ownership experience and ensure Niro remains a compelling choice for years to come.” And that’s the official word…

Apparently, the 2027 Niro Hybrid is smoother and quieter than before. Something that was already very impressive in the EV model.

Inside, the dashboard and console have been redesigned. And there is a new curve screen. Which is not as well integrated to the new dashboard as the previous version.

Pricing has not been announced but is not expect to rise much from the current $29,000 base price. Which is about the same as base Toyota Prius. But the Niro is roomier than the Prius. The current Niro hybrid is rated at an excellent 49MPG combined.
