2028 Volvo ES60 Sedan Preview.

Volvo is getting back into the sedan business. Actually, they did last year with the big ES90, but that is still exclusive to the Chinese market. Although it was planned for Europe as well at some point. What I am talking about is a brand new, smaller EV sedan. And it might be coming to the US as well.

Things don’t look good right now for Volvo EVs in the US. they canceled the really cool EX30 last year, just when it was starting to be finally available. Then the whole Polestar brand was forbidden to sell cars in the US. And yet, the new EX60 seems to be off with a strong start with great reviews so far. And not we hear about a brand new sedan and wagon. And both will be new EVs.

Apparently, development is pretty advance already and these two could be on sale in 2028. Both would be based on Volvo’s SPA3 platform, which is already used for the new EX60 SUV. Having more body styles sharing the new platform does make sense. And a wagon and a sedan would be a logical move for the Volvo brand. Especially in the US since Polestar is gone.

As we all now, EVs have been having a tougher time in the US than anywhere else, but sales are actually up for many manufacturers. Even without any incentives. Volvo might be cashing in on sedan getting a bit more popular in North America. And the wagon, while still a bit of a gamble, would be great. Volvo is only planning on selling around 10,000 units a year of the new cars.

Both models are rumored to start at around $50,000. Which is about $10,000 less than the new EX60 SUV. And not a bad deal at all. Electric sedans offerings are very few in the US. The Ioniq 6 is gone. But Mercedes just launched the new CLA and C-Class EV. The CLA starts at around $48,000 and the C-Class EV is expected to start at around $55,000. And the new BMW i3 is coming too.

No matter what, a new Volvo EV sedan won’t be alone…
