2029 Chevrolet Tahoe: What the Big SUV Could Look Like.

GM just unveiled the new Chevrolet Silverado a few weeks ago. And that usually means a new Tahoe is on its way as well. The 2027 Silverado looks very similar to the previous model. Even though GM calls it a new generation (of course). I am afraid things will be very similar with the next-generation Tahoe SUV. It will probably look a lot like the current one.

These are never really “all-new”. I’ve been test driving Chevrolet Tahoes for many years over many generations. And they basically drive almost the same as they always did. Many interior parts like the huge center armrest even seem they never get to be redesigned at all from one generation to the next.

The big improvement from the current models were the rear independent suspension and the great Diesel engine. The new suspension allowed for a roomier 3rd row seat, but the ride is still pretty trucky and a bit rough. However, the Diesel is great. Smooth, quiet and provides an amazing MPG advantage over the good old V8.

As far as new engine choice goes, the new Tahoe will of course over GM’s new 5.7 Liter and 6.6Liter V8s. While the 6 cylinder Diesel might or might not still be offered. I guess that will all depend on future regulations. Apparently, no form of electrification is planned. Since the average Tahoe buyer doesn’t care about gas mileage or gas prices. It seems 12MPG around town at $6 a gallon is just fine for many.

The new Tahoe is rumored to be introduced sometime in late 2027, with production starting in 2028 for the 2029 model year.

Since these trucks drive pretty much the same from one generation to the next, I usually advice people to get a used one. The difference in price can be huge between a new one and a 2 or 3 year old Tahoe. These are mostly reliable beasts and you can save a huge amount on something that won’t look much older or different than the brand new one.

Of course, soon after anew Tahoe, , a new GMC Yukon will be introduced. And even later, a brand new Cadillac Escalade.
