Next-generation Chevrolet Silverado looks a lot like the current one…

As it always does. These big Chevrolet (Or GMC, Ford, RAM) pickups are redesigned every few years, and always look about 90% ike the previous generation.

I first started test-driving the Silverado about 20 years ago. I drove a few versions of the current full-size Chevrolet/GMC pickups over the last few years, and they actually don’t feel that different from many years ago. Of course, the interiors have seen huge improvements from the plasticky look and feel of previous generations. But they basically drive almost the same in daily situations.

And of course, prices have gone up dramatically. With more and more luxury versions on top of previous luxury trims.

I remember seeing the video produced for the launch of the Cybertruck back in 2019. That video was showing the evolution of the American full-size pickup truck. With each generation looking almost the same as the previous one. For decades. That’s the only thing Elon Musk got right that day. (The rest was a failed bulletproof window demo and lies about price, specs, and production dates.) But that video really showed what had been going on all these years.

I have heard of pretty serious issues with some of the current V8 engines used in the Silverado. Which could be solved with the next generation, since the V8 is rumored to basically be an all-new engine by the time the next truck is ready.

By that time, it will be a battle of the giant trucks since the next-generation Ford F-150 is scheduled for around the end of 2027 as well.
