2028 Hyundai Tucson Preview.

These images show that the next-generation redesigned Hyundai Tucson could look like. And so far they do match the latest spy shots we have seen about the new Hyundai SUV. This will be a huge departure from the popular current generation. A much more angular design that is almost brutalist from some angles. A complete break with the current model. And in my opinion, quite a gamble.

The current generation Tucson has been a major hit for Hyundai, with over 234,000 units sold last year alone. Even more than in 2024. The current design still looks really good and attractive. But in true Hyundai fashion, the next one will look nothing like it. Which could also be quite a risky move.

The current version of the Tucson launched in 2020 and received a slight facelift in late 2023 for the 2025 model year. The new one will probably be revealed later this year as a 2027 model in Korea, while arriving over here a few months later just in time for the 2028 model year.

The next Tucson will probably offer very similar powertrains as the current version. With a choice of Hybrid or even PHEV models. And of course, the “profit margin special”, the XRT trim. The more off-load oriented version that lets you showcase your make believe adventurous lifestyle. You know, all these pretend mountain camping trips you take with your imaginary friends…

Either way, it will be a bit of a gamble for Hyundai. Let’s hope it works better than the current Santa Fe. Which was also quite a departure from the previous one. A model that has not been as popular as the previous generation…
