New Range Rover GT Could Be One of the Most Interesting Luxury EVs Yet

Range Rover will launch a brand new model called “GT”. However, no date has been mentioned since we first saw official interior photos and a few images of a coverd prototype. The images on top are trying hard to guess what the actual production car will look like. And I do think it’s pretty close.
Range Rover officially describes the all-new model as: “A grand tourer with customary Range Rover capability. An elegant electric GT with a sleek silhouette and coupe proportions, with customary Range Rover capability.” Which is pretty vague. I guess its a car that can do Range Rover style off-road stuff? I guess somehow the suspension does raise up a bit when you get off tle pavement?
Range Rover has already said the GT is not replacing the Velar and this new car is a full EV, just like the upcoming new Jaguar 01 sedan. And it actually looks like these could actually compete against each other. Except the new GT will probably be price bellow the $130,000 Jaguar.
Both cars look quite similar. Of course the new GT isn’t as angular, blunt and brutalist. And yet, it could be seen as sister car to upcoming Jaguar. Both are designed by Gerry McGovern, which makes a lot of sense.
The new car will use the new EMA EV platform. And Hybrid trims could be offered later.
Inside, things also look a lot like what we have seen so far of the new Jaguar sedan. Even the steering wheel look a lot like the one in the Jag. Otherwise, it’ is pretty generic’s not as original and daring as the Jaguar. Again, that large center tablet and its thinner/smaller companion behind the steering wheel is in everything these days. End in a lot less expensive cars like all upcoming Hyundai models. And yet, it does look quite striking, even in these early photos.
I guess we will see much more about this soon. Although no one seems to know when…
