2027 Buick LaCrosse Sedan Shows New Face and Interior.

While the Buick LaCrosse sedan disappeared from North America a few years ago, it is alive and well in China. And it’s even getting a mid-cycle facelift for the next model year.

The Buick LaCrosse was available until 2019 in the US. It did have a facelift for the 2019 model year in China. Where the big sedan was still pretty popular.

That was followed by an all-new 4th generation in 2023. That model was designed specifically for the Chinese market. A very nice looking sedan with a pretty stunning interior. However, the V6 disappeared and was replaced by a choice of a 1.5-liter turbo or a 2.0 Liter Turbo. engine.

While sales numbers went all the way down to around 7000 nunits in its last year in the US, it has been much more successful in China. With over 57,000 units last year alone.

Now, the Chinese LaCrosse is getting a very mild front-end redesign. And a new dashboard. Which is more intersting to us since it shows a switch to that generic huge center flaoring screen everyone ahs been doing. Instead of the gorgeous wide curved screen offered now. The curved screen is also available in most US Buick models. It is a big part of making their less expensive models like the Encore and Invista feel much more premium than the competion inside. If GM decides to switch to a Tesla/like center tablet, it will be quite a step back. It is definitely not an improvement.

The rest of the LaCrosse interior is still very upscale and modern. It might now only offer a 2.0 Liter engine. And so far, no EREV is planned for the older sedan, since Buick already offers that powertrain in other, more modern models.

Let’s hope that tablet doesn’t end up in any Buick models in the US…

  1. Chinese market influence has completely ruined Buick’s exterior designs. There is nothing left to their current exterior designs that would remotely indicate to anyone that the vehicles are Buicks. Everything in their current lineup (US or China) looks like generic Chinese market designed trash!

As far as the LaCrosse, the facelifted version of the third generation was drop dead gorgeous! It’s a shame that we never got to see or experience this version in the US. The sedan was dropped here just as the facelifted version was released by Buick.

  2. I agree about that 2019 facelift. Just imagine how good and affordable that thing would be now…

  3. Keep it over there. Its looks terrible. And there’s a reason Chinese cars won’t sell here – tiny engines. They can get by with that there since people don’t drive long distances in all kinds of weather like we have to in the US. That’s also why EVs work there.

  4. They have ruined the Lacrosse the front grill looks like a Toyota don’t like the inside at all
