2027 Hyundai Santa Fe Gets a Controversial Refresh and a 600-Mile EREV

The current generation Hyundai Santa Fe isn’t that old and it is already getting a refresh. We have seen multiple spy shots and illustrations of the new Hyundai for 2027, and here are a few more.

Hyundai will change the face and rear lights, while keeping most of the existing body panels intact. As usual for a mid-cycle revision. Inside, there will be a new dashboard with the new large center tablet screen all new Hyundai models are getting these days.

And for the first time, the new Santa Fe will be offered with a new EREV powertrain getting a 600 miles range. That powertrain will also be available in the 2027 Genesis GV70. Where it will even add a few miles to the Hyundai’s range.

When Hyundai revealed the current Santa Fe, it marked a dramatic shift. The previous generation’s smooth, conservative styling was replaced with a boxy, upright design featuring H-shaped lighting and squared-off proportions. The whole thing looked pretty striking in photos. But sometimes pretty cheap in person.

The previous-generation Santa Fe sold over 131,000 units in the U.S. in 2023. After the redesign, it dropped to around 113,000 units in 2024.

The midsize SUV segment rarely rewards radical design. Boring sells and weirdo designs aren’t that popular. If the Santa Fe refresh doubles down on the more polarizing aspects of the current design, I’m afraid the sales trend may continue.

Unless marketing the new EREV works…

  3. I have a 2026 Santa Fe and love it. I like that the body styling is a bit different from the rest of the SUVs out there. While the boxy design may not look too sleek it does offer lots of room on the inside which is nice. I have the Caligraphy trim and it has every feature I could ever want. I do like this refresh with the new headlights and tail lights. Overall this is a great vehicle that may not look the nicest but worth the money in my opinion.

  4. I mentioned this before but Hyundai can only wish the sales trend continue. They did go from 131,574 unit sales in 2023 to 113,343 in 2024 but then in 2025 they sold 142,404 units, their best year since the Santa Fe was introduced in the USA. It looks like they will close 2026 around 135,000 units again (90,888 the first 8 months). Believe me, I thought they messed up with this design as well until I saw the actual data, they are selling more Santa Fes than Palisades

From what the pics show, the front of the vehicle appears to have an entire cover that comes down over not just the headlights, not just the grill, but the entire width of the front of the car, in effect a garage door type of covering; that is, the entire front of the vehicle is encased/covered. Aesthetically, I think that looks like crap, but even though I admit the following scenario is very unlikely, what happens if a problem arises and that entire front panel/cover is stuck in the closed position (meaning you can’t open that front cover)?

  8. I kinda like it , it looks a little like the back of new Palisade and the front of a EV Chevy Silverado. Sandwich those two into a Defender and you have a Santee Fee !

  9. Front definitely needs reworking and though they look nice, aren’t those Palisade Calligraphy rims?

  11. It looks as though the front black grill and headlights area accidentally slid down from the top where it might have looked a little better?

Yeah, no offense but I’m very disappointed in the fact that you’re still pulling up numbers from 2023 because if you look at the numbers like the other person just posted from 2025, which the numbers are out there for the public and it’s very easy to access. It literally took me one minute to do it right now. Their units are 142,000 that means the best year ever so you might want to rethink how you’re skewing your articles.
