2028 Volvo XC40 Gets a Refresh After 10 Years, and It Still Looks Great

The good old Volvo XC40 is getting a few changes for the 2028 model year. Which, as usual, means a redesigned front end and rear lights, mostly. With a slightly revised interior. For 2028, the electric version will not be availabe in the US anymore.

Which actually does make sense. Since it was way overpriced at over $56,000. And just a couple of thousand below the all-new Volvo XE60. A larger and much more modern vehicle.

The XC40 started production in 2017. A design that was previewed by the original Concept 40-.1 from 2016. So we’re talking about a 10-year-old design here, and it still looks good. That’s what a good design does: it lasts.

The new front and rear lights are a slight improvement. I do like the new wood texture inside. Something the XC40 should have offered from the beginning.

The current model starts at a bit over $41,000 in the US. Which is a pretty good price. However, the revised version will be AWD only, which will raise the base price.

These are pretty decent updates for a car that still looks very nice after all these years.
