The 2028 Kia Sportage Is Coming, And It May Not Look Like a Mini Telluride

The current 5th-generation Kia Sportage began production in 2021. Which means Kia has been hard at work on a new one. A new and improved Sportage we might see very soon.
Like everything these days, the 6th-generation Kia Sportage is expected to get a more angular, squared-off shape. Everyone seems to expect it to look like a small Telluride, but that might not be the case. The illustrations above are inspired by recent spy shots of the new SUV, and you can tell it’s not just a smaller Telluride. The headlights were already uncovered a few weeks ago and have been incorporated into the illustrations.
Of course, nothing is officially known about the 6th generartion Sportage yet. But it will use the same platform as the new Hyundai Tucson, whihc is a couple of inches longer than before. And of course, Kia’s version of the Hyundai Pelos intotainment system will be there too. Which menas a giant tablet screen above the center console. And a second tiny thin unit behind the steering wheel.
Powertrains will of course vary from regions. But a similar updated Hybrid from the new Tucson is of course expected to be offerd here as well.
I sure hope the new Sportage does look more original than the illustrations above. I test drove the 4th (or 3rd?) generation years ago and it was a pretty nice car. The 3rd and 4th generarion looked quite original too. While the current one is a mostly pretty anonymous design with a giant face. However, that gaint face did repalce a really, rally weird front end design.
The’s hope the new generation does better.
