Lexus 3-row EV SUV.
Last Updated:

Back in October, we heard news that Toyota was pushing back its EV manufacturing plans in the US. Things have obviously changed since, and they are now planing to introduce 10 new EV models by 2027. Including the Lexus brand.
Toyota has just launched the revised BZ4X, a new C-HR+, and the Urban Cruiser in Europe just a few weeks ago. So far, the updated BZ4X as well as the smaller and cheaper C-HR+ (probably with another name) are scheduled for the US.
While the goal used to be 1.5 million EVs produced by 2026, it is now a more realistic 800,000 units. Which is still a huge increase from the current 140,000 EV Toyota sold last year.
While Toyota still has plans for 2 new 3-row EV SUVs to be built in the US next year, there is also one for Lexus. (The illustration above shows what a larger Lexus EV SUV could look like.) Which is now also scheduled for 2026. It is interesting to note that the mid-2026 start of production date refers to the Japanese factory. If the new large Lexus EV is also manufactured in the US, we could actually see it a bit sooner.
Lexus trademarked the name “TZ” earlier, and it could be the name od the new large EV SUV. I guess they keep the letter X for their ICE/Hybrid SUVs, like the RX and TX. While the Z will designate EVs. Like in RZ and TZ.
It almost makes sense…
