Alpine A390.

Alpine has finally revealed its first SUV ever, the ALPINE A390.

Last year we saw Alpine’s first EV, the A290. Which is a sportier version of the super cool Renault 5 EV. We have seen many spy shots of the new A390 SUV over the past year or two, and here it is.

And it does look a little familiar. Not only because it uses many classic Alpine design cues. But because it shares its platform with the Nissan Aryia. And both cars seem to have very similar proportions to me. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The platform is also shared in Europe with the Renault Scenic E-Tech which was released last year.

While the Renault has a much more angular shape, it shares most of its interior design with the new Alpine. I posted photos of the Scenic E-Tech interior and you can see that most of the dashboard and door trims are the same in both cars.

The new A390 is supposed to start the Alpine arrival in the US in 2027. Something that has now been put on hold because of tariffs. Which means we might never see this over here after all. In Europe, the A390 will be priced at around $12,000 less than the Porsche Macan EV. That could have meant around $68,000 in the US. Which is really expensive for a brand that is mostly totally unknown. I guess actual prices could be much lower in the US if they really want to compete. The Polestar 4 starts at around $56,000 over here.

In Europe, the new Alpine A390 will be available in a 2 motor GT trim or a tri-motor GTS version. With 398HP or 463HP. The most efficient model is rated at 345 miles of range. Which would probably mean something closer to 280 miles EPA.

The new Aline is about 1 inch shorter than the Nissan Aryia. Or 8 inches shorter than the Polestar 4 and also shorter than the Macan EV.

The Alpine A390 goes on sale in Europe at the end of the year. As I mentioned earlier, the previous 2027 start date in the US is now up in the air…
