2026 Jeep Cherokee.

While were are still waiting to see anything new about the Recon, Jeep has just released early official photos of another new model, the 2026 Cherokee.
Here is the official word so far:

Cherokee will boast competitive pricing that strikes at the core of the largest vehicle segment and sits perfectly between Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee to bolster our winning mainstream lineup.”
“The new Jeep Cherokee respectfully honors its rich history with an innovative eye toward the future as the brand continues to meet the needs of every driver and every journey. The all-new Cherokee hybrid joins the brand’s mission to empower customers with freedom to adventure their way, as Jeep offers an entire lineup of vehicles that span industry-leading ICE propulsion systems, plug-in, hybrid and all-electric offerings, all with unmatched Jeep capability and innovation.”
The new Cherokee will arrive in late 2025.
I personally think this looks really good. And at least a little bit different, with a front end that resembles the Recon. And it does look like a Jeep which is key.
As far as powertrains, things are still pretty vague. We might get a Hybrid or a PHEV. And a full EV could come later. The 2.0 Liter PHEV system used in many current models is getting old. As so is the 3.6 Liter V6. So who knows?
Meanwhile, we still have no news about the Recon…
Just use the Cherokee name on low-spec Wranglers. Make the base Wrangler a 4-door Cherokee. Make the base 2-door Wrangler a step up for off-road.
The Recon might be overkill with all of these models tending to look like Wagooner and GC juniors. The Wagonner S EV seems like a lame duck as far as sales. It was another Jeep mistake. They should focus on Wrangler as Bronco still has all the attention.
