2006 New Beetle!

Last Updated:

What’s weird about this, is the fact they are trying to get away from the “roundness” of the design.
But that’s what a Bug is: round!
The front turn signals lost their oval style. The squared off elements (like the fenders and bumpers) don’t really match the look, or personality of the car anymore..
The interior is the same, except for chrome rings around the instruments and the vents.
But the standard engine is now the 2.5 Liter from the new Jetta. And the wheels look much better.

So , a slight improvement on a great car.

  1. “New” Beetle is getting old. Still a chick car more than anything else IMO.

And its service record isn’t very good according to Consumer Reports.

This cutesy thing was fine for a few years like the Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Time for an all-new car everybody wants to hug.

  2. I disagree with the poster above. The beetle should remain unchanged for a long time. Maybe spruce up the interior, but the original bettle was barely changed in its tenure and it did pretty good from what I remember sales-wise.

I for one am a little tired of the obsessive – SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DIFFERENT ON EVERY MODEL YEAR crap thats been happening…
