Dodge Hornet Concept

Last Updated:

Who would have thought the Scion xB could ever get a competition from a Dodge???

This little car looks almost ready for production. With Dodge’s new intention to enter the European market, it makes sense as well.
All I know is that it is powered by a 1.6 Liter engine with 127hp.
I don’t know anything else so far.
It must be based on some existing Daimler Chrysler platform, or it would be too much of a gamble…

  1. This looks really sweet. I have to say that I’m really liking what Dodge is doing latly… As aposed to the Doomed GM… where the execs and focus groups are designing their cars.

  2. It actually looks production ready.

Your headline really put it right vince. Who would have thought a domestic brand would actually have the balls to challenge the japanese head on? Wow. DCX management must be really confident in the company’s future success.

Gm is still pushing full size suvs which are probably the in the segment that faces the least amount of competition from foreign automakers. If Dodge could produce competitive cars so can (in theory) GM.

  3. WOW this looks a lot better than the Caliber. Chrysler is on a roll. But will they sell this pint size hatch in the US? If I remember correctly, the Caliber was first shown in concept form at one of the european auto shows.

  6. I hope they bring it stateside.

I wonder how its size compares to the Caliber. Its obviously smaller, but how much so?

It is alot like the xB, only without the xB’s ugliness.

  7. Toyota tried it and their uninspired stylists came up with a loser, Kleenex box, Nissan has the cube, pretty good, but this is awesome and will sell. If they have the balls to market this, all the youth WILL flock

  8. Finally a good looking interior in a Dodge/Chrysler! This car looks amazing! I thought it was some kind of SUV from Renault, since it looks very much like the Clio… and that’s a good thing!

  9. I’d say it’s based on the Mitsu Colt/Smart ForFour platform.

Without a minicar Dodge has no chances in Europe.

  10. Hornet? Hmmm… maybe if they put on the 26″-ers mentioned above and painted it black (and following the Magnum, Caliber name scheme) it could be called the Dodge Glock?

    :D:D

This vehicle was a surprise, but it looks good-and now definitely confirms the new “Dodge face” (Nitro, Rampage, Hornet). It looks like a good xB (and even Cube) counterpart, and has a very versatile Element-like interior. I’m not sure how Europeans will like the styling, but it doesn’t look too far from Renault as far as strange styling.
    I think they’ll bring it here-why shouldn’t they?

  11. if the dodge nitro and the scion xA had a baby this is what it would look like ! also dodge says there will be a price leader priced under the caliber soon sooo let us have this please !

  12. . . . I n t e r r r e s t i n g… and just when I had written off anything small. I thought all small cars had to be as boxy as Scion and as boring as Toyota/Honda. I HAVE to TRY it! O:K Dodge, you’ve got my attention now.

  13. They are again spreading the Dodge brand around the world, not seen since the Dart went out of production. They need good looking stuff like this to be competitive outside North America. Seems, if produced, it would be made in a southeast Asia plant of Mitsubishi. How about a local Indian car?

  14. Saw another report on edmunds.com I think. It is not based on anything htey have right now. IT is really focused on the European market in the b segment. It looks nice and much more powerful than anything Scion or Honda is putting out in teh same class.

  15. Wow! You Douchebags really have an eye for style!!??: This is nothing more than a Scion xA on steroids. Yeah, this Dodge/Chrysler designers are really tops! Tops at copying Euro and Japanese manufacturers since they ran out of original ideas. Where are you Lee Iacocca and Henry Ford when we need you???
