Cadillac Coupe

Last Updated:

Talking about the good old days from GM…
This coupe would be a big step for Cadillac to bring back the classy GM style from the past.

From the picture, it looks like it is still a concept. Or a clay model of an upcoming concept.
The headlights don’t really look “production ready” to me.
That hood also seems long enough for a V12…

It is too bad they don’t use proper names anymore, this would make a great Eldorado.

Or maybe it is just a model that was canned before it even saw the light of day.
Go figure…

  1. Thats pretty good but there is already the xlr and that can get pretty pricey as is. I hope htye continue with the ULS and create a 4 door super luxury to rival the ones by maserati, aston martin, and porsche. That would do the most for the brands image.

  2. this is an old picture not real old but old, it was suppose to be one of the concepts for the $100,000 cadillac i saw it on another site this came after the sixteen concept, and it was suppose to compete with the bentley gt…..but judging by the interiors of current cadillacs and the electronics problems of cadillacs above the cts, i dont think a cadillac this expensive will do well at all and is kinda pointless…..besides the srx, sts, and xlr are very slow sellers, why not use that money to fix what is wrong with them

  3. Can u say 16 coupe, the 16— 4 door is on for production ! weve seen the clay models and such on the web, Lutz has hinted its in studie’s not sure if it will ever be powered by a 16 cyl or not, but a coupe would be a great alternative to the bently, rolls and such… i say build it and they will come !!!

  4. Looks cool, perhaps built off the upcoming Camaro platform?

What? A Caddy and a Chevy sharing the same platform? Well, maybe if GM is desperate enough to spread the cost of a RWD coupe.

  5. Caddy needs a coupe and sedan to compete with the 3series/G35/IS350’s of the world. No domestic company builds a luxury sports coupe in this range.

  6. The Zeta platform would be too cheap for Cadillac use and it’s not much bigger. If anything, GM will develop it’s own large luxury RWD/AWD platform for Caddy for the proposed ULS (S-class, 7 series competitor) and a large coupe like the one in the picture.
They did it with the Sigma (cadillac only) platform which shows that they are serious about making Cadillac a legitimate world class luxury brand.

  7. i agree that cadillac needs a car to compete with the 3 series and g35 coupe, or clk. that sounds like a better business case. maybe a stretched kappa platform, or shortened bls platform.

  8. It would be nice to bring back the Eldorado name. The actual naming convention sucks… but not as much as what Ford is doing with their names (which have to start with a specific letter, F for Ford, M for Mercury, etc.) That is just stupid.

Well, the BLS is on the FWD Epsilon platform (same as the Malibu) so it is out. I think the Kappa would be ok, but I think GM has looked at streching the Kappa and decided not to do it for engineering reasons.

IMO, the current Sigma platform is nearing its life at Caddy and will eventually be replaced. What ever platform replaces it should be used for a coupe and just about every other car in the Caddy lineup. This will likely happen since the Sigma platform is the basis for the CTS, STS, and SRX. Note, this is just my speculation but I believe it is viable if GM wants to do it.

  10. This looks like the “spy photos” of a clay model that I saw in Motortrend about 6 months ago (it was the same one that had the “New” GTO drawing).

Its allegedly a Bentley Continental-type of car. At that time, they weren’t sure what engine it would use, probably not the V16, possibly an LS-engine with a V2 grafted on making it a bona-fide 10-cylinder, or some sort of combination of two “high feature” V6’s, making it a V12.

“Caddy needs a coupe and sedan to compete with the 3series/G35/IS350’s of the world.”

There is no IS coupe, atleast not now. The market isn’t built around sporty coupes, its sport-sedans
